Re: 164 door locks
In AD#437 Karl Robrock writes---
"I am having a problem with my 164 door locks. The driver's side door lock
seems to be jammed. It is incredibly difficult to get my key in and out.
It seems that the pistons that ride on top of the key are not going up and
down easily. It has been this way for a while now."
Our ex-LS went through a period like that Karl, affecting the drivers door
only. Seemed to be related to lots of key use when we went without a working
remote for several months. I was actually lubing the lock cylinder one fine
November day, running the key in/out, when I noticed the lock was reluctant
to turn. After living with it for the winter, I finally got it freed up
using copious amounts of graphite-loaded lock oil (dripless), and a bit more
pressure on the key than I preffered! However, when it did free up, it
worked fine afterward. Maybe the solenoid?? True to Alfa form, it came
around, then went away, never to bother me again...
