Grappa -One More Time

The origins of grappa, a clear spirit distilled from marc, lie shrouded in
the past. It is made from the remains of the grape pressing, the Italian
word grappa literally meaning grape stalk. There is an early written
record of this product of the Alps and Alpine foothills, that dates from
1451. A native of Fruili by the name of Enrico made mention of it this
brew called grape in his last will and testament. The original use of
grappa was to provide a sense of Mediterranean warmth in the chilled
climate of northern Italy. Romano Levi (a nice Jewish Italian boy) is one
of the best-known grappa distiller in Italy. His tiny distillery is
located in Neive, Piedmont.
