The problem I have had with the paintless guys is they do not want to
take any risk. If you have a brand new car with new paint and the dents are
small, they can be wonderful.
I took my wife's 91 spider to several paintless places. The dent in
the front fender came with the car and had a slight crease in it. Any
evidence of buckling or bending of the metal and the paintless guys run and
hide. They did not want to do the work as they were afraid they might crack
the paint. I told them I would not hold them responsible as I would have to
take it to a body shop anyway if they could not do the job. Plus if they
could get the dent close to level, the body shop would have less work to do.
I did finally take it to a body shop and had the fender painted.
The body shop did have someone come in and rub out a couple of small
dents on top of the rear fender near the trunk hinges. You cannot tell there
were ever ripples there. Perhaps the fact that they were called by a body
shop, then they were willing to take a risk on cracking 10 year old paint.
Just my personal experience. Sorry if I sound negative on these guys,
but I guess I am. They want to work on new cars and the 91 spider is my
newest.
