1985 GTV 6 Grille removal

All, I'm trying to remove the grille in my GTV 6. 
It's a 1985, so it's got the larger diameter emblem. 
It appears that the emblem is secured to a plastic
piece which, in turn, is secured to the grille.  I
know that there is a large screw behind the emblem. 
I'm trying to pry the emblem assembly loose, but I'm
afraid of breaking it, as they are nla.  Any advice?
