I don't think it's fair to point fingers; it is hard to
find groups/countries that have not committed some kind of atrocity in the
name of xenophobia. The father of my best friend from high school as a
young man was involved somehow in the long march (my apologies, I cannot
remember what this was called) in the Philippines by the Japanese during
the war. I cannot remember whether he was a Philippine soldier or one of
those forced to walk. In any case, he kept a very tiny diary and had only
the energy to draw pictures of the atrocities he encountered. The Chinese
endured similar hardships, and I have had a number of Chinese friends who
therefore will not buy Japanese automobiles. Likewise to single out the
"Germans" isn't fair. Maybe it is better that we drop this topic, and
strive always to be better -- rather than ostracizing people or
companies whose forefathers have made some disastrous mistakes. In my own
life, I've made some huge ones, and these have always led to better things
and a better outlook on life.
