    Interesting reading about various engine configurations for a hardcore
motorhead like me.  Were these made in gas form also?  Anybody have
technical specs on one, like HP, bore and stroke, CR, etc?  THe reason I
originally started this thread is that I'm looking for a short, interesting
engine to use in a kit car project I have in mind, and most 4 cyls are just
too large.  Lopping a cyl off an Alfa 4 might be an option, but it sounds
like most 3 cyls of any size need a balance shaft to run smoothly, no?  TIA,
