re: cam

O'D took me to task for making fun of Sean's possible typo - I admit it, part
of my post was a good natured poke at Sean. No offense intended, just a
little 'welcome to the AD' (and wait 'til poppa Fred gets back). I was a
little surprised Joe didn't pick it up, but then he's had enough of pointing
out typos lately. :-)

I do have a '77 Alfetta and it certainly could use some more grunt, so the
question did have a serious component to it.

O'D went on to say "It is common practice to replace only the exhaust cam in
certain applications, smarty pants." (I'll accept the 'smarty pants' part
graciously.)

Curiously, Russ Neely also wrote to me and said "If you only want to change
one cam, go with the intake. <snip> So change the intake cam and open up
the exhaust system."

So, we're kinda back to the start (without the needling) - if one is to
replace only a single cam, which would it be?

I hear the crowd murmuring "Well, it depends ..." so let's set a few
parameters:

'77 Alfetta GT
USA/California Model
2000 engine
SPICA injection
Starting from bone stock

Which cam would you change and why?
What else would have to change to make your cam change work?

We've got Russ' answer already. O'D, care to clarify yours? Anyone else?
