Re: '73 spider fuse ratings?

Dan,

Funny you should ask. I am currently in the process of "American-izing" the
wiring schematics of some of the 105/115 series Alfas. They will be in color,
color codes in English with wire gauge (AWG not metric) and fuse amp ratings.
Although I haven't started the 73 Spider diagram yet (currently working on
72-74 GTV), you've giving me an excuse to figure out some of the fuse ratings.
According to the 73 owners manual I have, the dash lights are fed thru fuse #5
after being turned on by the headlight switch which is fed directly from the
hot side of fuse #4. Fuse 5 also powers the side markers, parking lights,
hood, trunk, license plate and courtesy lights. All of these "loads" add up to
a little more than 60 watts, which divided by battery voltage (12) equals
about 5 amps. Since Alfa used only 8 and 16 amp fuses (in 105/115 cars
anyway), fuse #5 is 8 amps. Fuse #4, at least in my diagram, isn't hooked up
to anything. The left highbeam goes thru fuse #7, right highbeam thru fuse #8,
left lowbeam thru fuse #9 and right lowbeam thru fuse #10. All headlight fuses
are 8 amps.
If you can give me a little more time (by the end of the week), I'll
provide the ratings of the other fuses.

Regards,

Jim
