'72 105 2000 GTV brake light sender

the brake light only comes on when the pedal is down a long way. the sender 
seems to be in the rear compensator under the car. It looks like the end 
with the leads coming from it might come off, but can someone confirm 
(before I get an eyeful of DOT4)?
