Coil Spark

On my 86 Spider, I am not getting spark from the ignition coil.  If I remember
correctly, the ECU somehow tells the coil to spark, correct??
Also, the fuse coming off the coil to the VVT Solenoid & Throttle switch has
corrosion in the fuse holder.  Am I correct in assuming that this could keep
the VVT or Throttle from sending the "OK" to the ECU??
