Easy way to access those cardiscs

Some ppl might not already be privvy to this, but there's a free program
called Daemon Tools that allows you to mount ISO images of any CD as though
they were actually in your drive. Makes for lots faster of your
Cardisc/whatever CD's (especially older ones which spin so fast these days
that their misbalanced discs sound like they're gonna rupture).

I currently use it for a GTV6 disc bought in 1996. Used Adaptec Easy-CD to
make an ISO image, 'mounted' the image using Daemon Tools (win98 sees it as
the Virtual DAEMON SCSI Controller AND a V386 Phantom CDROM, where you can
select drive letter range), then ran the Cardisc setup program, pointing it to
the phantom drive. Great for not having to shuffle discs or laptop users who
don't have their drives with them. ISO images take up space, but these days
it's not such a big deal.

Direct download link is here:

It's been tested by folks at MaximumPC, which is where I came across it. So
far, so good.

Happy motoring/computing,

weekend if any fellow digesti are out'n'about)
