The milano brake system uses the pressure from the ABS reservoir to 
provide power assist and to actuate the rear brake cicuit.  If you loose 
pressure in the reservoir, you loose power assist and get a really stiff 
pedal and very reduced braking.  You still have a pedal connected by a 
rod to a master cylinder, etc.   The pump is electric, and so are the 
solenoids that allow the pressure to flow from the reservoir.  However, 
that hardly qualifies as drive-by-wire (any more than a power steering 
system is drive-by-wire) IMHO.
