Re: alfa-digest V8 #132
Gang!
The blue Alfa pickup, seen at the San Diego National Convention, was built
out of a Giulia Sedan. As I recall the bodywork was actually done by shop in
Mexico. There was an article about this vehicle in the Alfa Owner a couple of
years ago. Ed Geller and his pals were the last known owners to my knowledge.
The p'up was a beautifully executed idea and I thought it was one of the
neatest Alfas I had ever seen. It was also featured on the GTV-6 website for
quite sometime, it might even still be there... (www.GTV-6.org) (Just as an
aside, about 10-12 years ago a local BMW specialist took a 320i which had
been hit hard in the rear and fabricated a working wrecker which he not only
used but he featured in his business adds in the yellow pages...)
The Alfetta p'up is NOT the same vehicle! From what I've been told by some
local CA friends it is a piece of junk! Rusty, dented and with shoddy
bodywork to cover accident damage. They tell me it wouldn't be worth the
money except for parts. I've never really seen the Alfetta p'up but these
people are all car types so I would be willing to take their word. In fact I
was going to try and buy the Alfetta until they told me what it really looked
like.
