164Lmanual: no start, no spark, no fuel pressure

Hi all!

Was wondering if anyone could offer advice on this. I just finished putting
new heads on my Alfonse (91 164LManual) and don't get it to start. The
starter turns over, but I don't get ignition spark or fuel pressure. After I
was done reinstalling all the wires, hoses etc and refilled it with fluids,
the battery, which had been charged for 24 hours, didn't have enough power
to turn the starter, so I switched my charger to "starter assistance", and
turned the ignition key, only to see my speedo needle jump up and down and
hear strange noises coming from the starter solenoid, and, and this scared
me most: The area underneath the glove box, near the Motronic ICU.
I then set out and got a new battery, hooked it up, and tried to start it:
The starter cranked, but the engine would not start. I then hooked up a fuel
pressure gauge at the rail and a timing light to the main ignition wire from
the coil. No pressure and no voltage.
I strongly doubt that I messed up with reinstalling everything after the
head job, since I have done it before successfully. I strongly suspect the
alarm, or the relays for the fuel pump and the Motronic Comp. The manual is
rather intriguing in pinpointing the problem. It is my understanding that
the alarm system would kill voltage to the starter, but not disable the
ignition, correct? Could I have mistakenly switched the fuel pump relay and
the motronic relay, both Bosch. As it is I have the one ending with #113 on
the passenger side (S12a) and the one that ends with #112 on the driver
side(S12b). Could I have burned something up when jump starting the car with
my charger and a dead battery?? All fuses are intact. Thanks for your time,
folks...

Matthias
