My old 84 had a leak in one of the pistons. Check to see if your's leaking too, if it is, buy the rebuild kit also. Just make sure you push the piston back to their original position before removing the old pads and avoid scratch the discs and tearing the piston rubber seals. 
 That's how I remembered.
