re: what's in a name

GT = Grand Touring or Gran Turismo
GTV = Gran Turismo Veloce
GTV6 = Gran Turismo Veloce, 6 cilindri
GTZ = Gran Turismo Zagato (Zagato is a coachbuilder)
TZ = Tubolare (tubular) Zagato (tubular space frame chassis)
SZ = Sprint Zagato
SS = Sprint Speciale

There's also 'TI', used on some Giulia sedans. Dunno what that
means. It's not "Touring Injected", since they had carbs.

As for non-Alfa:

GTI/GTi = Grand Touring, Injected
GTO = Gran Turismo Omologato (originally used by Ferrari on the 250GTO,
      at least 25 of which were made to satisfy sport car racing rules of
      the day requiring "homologation" of a minimum number of cars, later
      aped by Pontiac)
CS/CSL/CSi = used by BMW to denote a Coupe, L = light, i = injected, used
      on the 3.0 coupes and the later 6-series cars. BMW later used L
      for 'long' or 'luxury', on the stretched 740iL
ST/STi = Sport Touring (injected)

Lots and lots of others used by specific marques:

R/T = road/track (sporty Chryslers)
SVO = special vehicle operations (certain Fords)
SVT = special vehicle team (same as above)
T/E/S/L = touring/einspritzung (injected)/sport/luxo (Porsche)

I'm sure there are many, many more.
