re: Death Rattle
hi michael,
it's either the clutch thro-out bearing, or the shaft bearing at the front of the t/a. at least that's what it's been on my milanos/gtwe6...

Subject: Death Rattle
This isn't good, but I hope it is something else. My 1982 GTV6 has developed
what I termed the "death rattle". When the car is idling low, there is a
rattling clunking sound that can be heard from the engine area.
Not sure if it is transaxle, clutch, engine or what. I do envision that
there is a loose rod somewhere though. Perhaps my "half empty" outlook on
this car?
Above idle the car runs great- very peppy with no sounds of clunking or
rattling.
Any ideas before I drag her down to the mechanics?
Thanks,
Hopeful in New Jersey
