Re: GTV6 Fuel Leak

When I noticed this leak on my belated GTV6 it turned out to not be the fuel pump but the 16 year old clothcovered fuel line. The rubber under the cloth was all crumbly and spongy.
I found some new replacement fuel line at a local VW Tuner shop. I had no luck finding high pressure fuel line at any of the consumer auto parts shops. What a maddening experience that was.
Every time I went into "AutoZone" "PartsPlus"... some goober store employee tried to convince me I didn't need the hose "More likely a leaky filter" I'd rather they just tell me that they can't sell fuel line because of liability issues and I can be on my way.
Fuel line was tough to find. Maybe this is only a problem around my area.
You know there is a big plastic nipple on the one end of the Bosch fuel pump, I suppose that could fatigue and crack if subjected to impact or stress. Other than that I don't think these pumps generally leaks.
Good luck, No smoking!
