Is it possible that the unusual (=O::: ) shape of this filler hose is a way 
to meet the requirement that leaded fuel pump nozzles can't get in? That 
could account for the constriction at the beginning. Now that leaded fuel is 
unavailable (at least as far as I know, in the USA), that unusual shape may 
not be required, and so a more normal and easily obtainable hose could be 
used. Maybe even the Alfetta's. Did the Alfettas have cats? If not, that 
could explain the hose difference.

Or I could be totally wrong.
