Alfa in USA from 2005

Bob Lutz has some work to do in Europe, too

This year, Bob Lutz won't be just another melancholy, retired auto executive
strolling around the Frankfurt auto show.

Instead, the 69-year-old will be rushing around on adrenaline: a true car guy
immersed in his favorite environment - lots of new cars.

Lutz's main job as General Motors' new vice chairman for product development
is in North America. But he has serious work to do in Europe, too.

Among the challenges he faces here is to put more pizzazz in Opel, redefine
Saab's brand image and get Alfa Romeo ready for the North American market.

Finally, there is Alfa Romeo. The Italian brand will return to the USA by
2005, so there is enough time for Lutz to review the new models.

Since GM will distribute Alfa in the USA, the Americans will have a major role
to play - and maybe no one will be more involved than Bob Lutz.
