Stubborn head

I recently purchased a 1974 spider. It has a 
blown head gasket. The car had been sitting for 
the last six months. There is so much water in the
crankcase it is pumping up to the cam shafts.

I am in the process of trying to crank the engine 
with the head nuts loosened, to release the gasket
and have only got a couple pops out of it. Would 
it be possible to apply air pressure to one of 
the cylinders to break it loose?
