update on stalling 164
I posted here some time ago about my ill 164 24v, and got lots of helpfull
replys. I'd like to thank every body for their insight and input, which i
passed on to my mechanic, but unfortunately we're not much closer to solving
the problem. We may be on the verge of calling it a day I suspect, which is
a real pity as it's such a lovely example.
Anyhow, here's some of the original post ;
"...It runs ok when cold, but once it starts to warm up things begin to go
wrong.
Firstly, it will cut out once you take your foot off the gas, say
approaching traffic lights/roundabouts etc. It will start again first time
by turning the ignition, but the more you drive the worse the problem gets.
Eventually it will cut out while cruising, and sometimes it will even
backfire.
If you pull over and restart the engine, it will start fine, but blipping
the throttle causes the revs to rise and then drop to zero, rather than back
to idle. Once warm the car is basically undrivable. Given enough time to
cool down it's fine again.
The diagnostic says the cam-angle sensor is the problem, but this has been
changed before to no effect, as have most of the electrics, ecu, air-flow
meter etc."
Thanks,
Mike m
