Modern Alfa Engine Life

>>I was less pleased when one of my Alfa sightings turned
out to be a breakdown, as the car was being attended to by
an AA tow truck. Also, a friend mentioned his colleague's
company Alfa, which needed a new engine every couple of
years. However, he apparently never had the oil changed
or performed any servicing whatsoever.<<

Speaking to my local Alfa specialist, this in not that
uncommen. He has replaced the engines on several 156's
which have been killed by the owners never checking the oil
between the (10000 mile) oil changes. As the oil level drops
it gets a harder time (less oil for the same job), and eventually
kills the timing variator, hydraulic tappets or the bigs ends

All the best

Keith
