164 running again!

well, after a nightmare story of breaking down on the highway in the
middle of Missouri a month ago, and having to tow my car all the way back
home 200 miles, I finally figured out what my problem was. It was a blown
fuse. Most people would laugh at me, but the fuse was not visibly blown.
After doing all sorts of diagnostics and finding all the necessary
diagrams, all the missing voltages on the ECU wiring harness pointed to
ONE fuse. I checked the fuse and it looked fine. I decided to check
continuity just for the hell of it. It failed. I replaced the fuse, and
the car started right up again. Wow. hours and hours of useless work.
I guess I am FAR more familiar with the car's electrical systems now, and
feel like I could tackle far worse problems.
I had a bad engine mount when this occurred. I replaced it with a Lancia
Thema mount ($2.50 from a junkyard in italy), which I think is a better
design than the alfa mount. I think the bad mount caused the engine to
rock and somehow short something out. Don't think I'll ever know for
sure.
THanks to all that helped me with this problem: Ken Stevenson, Fred Di
Matteo, John Justus, and all those whose names I can't remember off the
top of my head.
All of you can share my feelings of driving an alfa after a month of
driving some POS american car. It's incredible.

thanks,

Karl
