fuel pump

Re Dana wanting to use a mechanical fuel pump on a former SPICA 1750:

If you have a Euro front cover, it accepts mechanical fuel pumps just like
1600 front covers do. Euro carbed 1750s did use mechanical fuel pumps. But
the SPICA front cover has no provision to bolt the mechanical fuel pump to.
If you can obtain a Euro front cover, plus the mounting plate, plus the
pushrods, you should be able to do it. The pushrod runs off the eccentric
lobe on the oil pump shaft, just like a 1600.

Some folks, unable to find a 1750 Euro front cover to accept a mechanical
pump, have used a 1600 cover and welded other otherwise attached or trapped
a custom-made spacer at the top to make up for the taller 1750 block. I've
seen a couple of these done.
