164 Blower Motor

A note of thanks to all those who offered advise/sent details etc. re
the replacement of the blower motor in my 164. One of the suggestions
was to remove the circlip on the end of the shaft and put pressure on
this (Thanks Mark in UK). This didn't work initially and I gave up on
the idea but when I actually started the car the blower fan came on with
no problems other than a squeak. I then used a tip from John in Aus
which involved drilling a small hole in the casing above the end bearing
and lubricating. I did not use WD 40 as suggested but used a light
multi purpose oil, called 3 in 1 in UK, which has stopped the noise and
the fan now runs smoothly. Hopefully this will resolve the problem long
term but one can only hope.

Regards

David
