164 tires V not H



It isn't just the speed rating, the V rated tires will handle better as 
well. Never run H rated tires over 130 mph. The testing procedure is 
destructive and the tires have to survive indefinitely at the rated speed. 
The testing speed is raised to a set amount above this and the tire timed 
to destruction. You don't want to do that experiment on your car.

I like the Pirelli P6000 Performance version, NOT the Super Veloce all 
season design, in the stock 195/65 x 15 size. 205/60 x 15 should also fit 
the wheels and give the same rolling diameter. Wider isn't necessarily 
better, slip angles will be smaller but the balance of the handling will be 
different. Lower profile tires tend to break away more suddenly, though 
from a 195 to a 205 is only an increase of under one half inch at the 
tread. Slightly harsher ride and slightly crisper turn in are going to be 
the most evident changes.
