164 tires V not H
It isn't just the speed rating, the V rated tires will handle better as
well. Never run H rated tires over 130 mph. The testing procedure is
destructive and the tires have to survive indefinitely at the rated speed.
The testing speed is raised to a set amount above this and the tire timed
to destruction. You don't want to do that experiment on your car.
I like the Pirelli P6000 Performance version, NOT the Super Veloce all
season design, in the stock 195/65 x 15 size. 205/60 x 15 should also fit
the wheels and give the same rolling diameter. Wider isn't necessarily
better, slip angles will be smaller but the balance of the handling will be
different. Lower profile tires tend to break away more suddenly, though
from a 195 to a 205 is only an increase of under one half inch at the
tread. Slightly harsher ride and slightly crisper turn in are going to be
the most evident changes.
