Re: buying a real alfa

bs is right, the last time you could buy a real Alfa was after Nicola Romeo
bought the company, but before he changed the name of the company in 1918.

In 1910, Societa` Anonima Italiana Darracq - formed to assemble French
Daraccqs from kits - went broke, and was purchased by the Anonima Lombardia
Fabrica Automobili - or A.L.F.A. for short. Although they carried on with a
couple of the Darracqs, very quickly, they had Merosi design the first true
Alfa - the 20/30.
In 1915, A.L.F.A. was broke and was bought by Romeo (actually, he bought the
assets from the bank that was stuck holding the bag - Banca di Sconto)
because he had a huge government contract to build artillery shells, and
needed manufacturing space.
In Feb., 1918, he changed the company's name to Societa` Anonima Italiana
Ingenere Nicola Romeo & C. After the war ended, in November, Romeo had
Merosi start, design and produce a new range of cars under the name of Alfa
Romeo. So after 1918, there were no more Alfas, only Alfa Romeo.

So if you want to buy a real A.L.F.A. you must purchase any car built between
1910 and 1918. Everything else is mongrolized, tainted shite!!
