Fw: another one bites the dust

Condolences on the car; congratulations that the idiot that hit you has the
best insurance company. (biased opinion).

I have had two classic or near-classic cars to be "borderline totalled" with
USAA in my 17 years as a policyholder. Both were rebuilt because I told them
that's what I wanted to do. I helped demonstrate to them that the car was
worth more than book value. They wrote me the check and moved on to the next
case. Case closed, everybody happy.

As long as you can justify what you are asking for, I found them to be
extremely reasonable. (Rebuilding does not seem like an option in your case)
They won't make your life hell by lowballing you, stalling, and wasting
everyone's time if you are well prepared and reasonable. Gather
advertisements or reference material for comparable cars, and demonstrate
the amount you must have in order to be driving a similar car. If you don't
get excellent results, I'd like to hear about it.
