RE: ALFA and GM

Michael,

I don't think that GM will get FIAT in the end.
It is a share-swap. Actually 20% of Fiat Auto,
is equivalent to 9-10% of the Fiat Group. Fiat
Group has 5.1% of GM. It isn't at all like the
Saab or Suzuki affair, where GM is buying into
them, one way. FIAT has one of the largest stakes
in GM right now.. I think the 2nd largest to be exact.
This I believe is necessary to really make each
company help each other so they get a return on
their investment(s). Even though GM is twice the
size of FIAT.. who is to say that FIAT can't buy
more of GM in 3, 5 or 10 years?!? The SUV
$$$$ boom won't last forever.

What FIAT did was brilliant. they needed this to
help them become more profitable, and gain access
to the US market. FIAT and GM are still competitors..
and GM will not dictate to FIAT to put soft springs
on Alfa cars. :) Actually GM may just get to learn
more about making cars that are nice to drive, and
don't make cars that have you feel like suiciding
yourself (also known as Chevy Cavalier with an
automatic tranny).

take care, be optimistic!!! Agnelli, Fresco, and the
rest of the passionate fans of REAL driver's cars
aren't going to roll over and be ran over by Buicks
just yet!

We are getting Alfa Romeos in the United States.
Who would of thought of this just a week ago?

Forza Alfa!!
