After you bleed the air out of the system, you might also want to make sure
that the new thermostat was installed correctly.  I've replaced thermostats
in other cars before, and if you weren't paying attention it was easy to
install it upside down.  In this manner, the thermostat would eventually
open, but it would take hotter engine temps to do it.  You may also want to
make sure your radiator cap is the correct one.  The radiator hose should
not collapse.  Any vacuum build-up in the radiator should pull coolant back
from the overflow container.
