Low Oil Pressure Warning Light

     Fellow Digesters;

Changed the oil in my '91 Spider this weekend in preparation for my
anual vehicle inspection/emmissions here in Texas. While I was in
there, I decided to replace the oil pressure sending unit, because the
one that was in there had seemed to read consistently low. After I was
done and fired her up, the low oil pressure warning light on the dash
came on and stayed on. I removed the new sensor, clean everything and
put it back on again, but still the warning light stayed on. I even
put the old sensor back on but the warning light won't go out. The oil
pressure guage is reading at the first bar after 0. Car runs like a
champ and doesn't miss a beat. I even drove the car down to the
inspection station and passed with flying colors. What gives ? Oil
level is perfect in the sump according to the dipstick. I checked the
shop manual and it mentions the possibility of an oil pressure
regulating valve becoming clogged (as a potential source of low oil
pressure) but of course, doesn't show you where this gizmo is located
on the car. Could the oil pump be on the way out ? Car only has 45K
miles and had the head redone/seals replaced at 42K. I'd appreciate
any thoughts. I also seem to recall someone posting the same problem a
     couple of months ago.
