re: insuring an Alfetta

Jun asks about insuring an Alfetta for stated value.

I have my Alfetta GT (1976) insured for liability only. Considering
what the car is actually worth, not what I have invested in it, or what
I would like to believe I could sell it for, but what it REALLY is
worth, I had to admit that carrying collision and comp on the car was
not fiancially prudent. Also, I have modified the car in a number of
ways that would make it difficult to establish any sort of a fair
value. Again, I am talking about what the car is really worth, not some
sort of made up number for the sake of the insurance company and/or my
ego.

If "they" are at fault in a collision, then they have to get me a new
car. If I am at fault, then I will have to eat the cost of my own
mistake.

As is common in many matter similar to this, YMMV. My 0.02 worth. Take
it for what it is worth (what you paid for it).
