Re: use of Alfa Romeo Logo

The attitude of Fiat really makes you wonder whether they have thought this
through. Let's face it, Alfa enthusiasts are the best advertisers of Alfas
and I bet most of you long-time owners can name other people who have
bought cars because of your fanaticism/dedication/whatever to the marque.
The Australian club went through a stage,I believe, when they were
threatened with legal action for the use of the logo in their newsletter.
We in New Zealand have been more fortunate because the main agents here
realize that we, the owners, are valuable publicists for the product, and
they help us with sponsorship for events, prizes and loan of materials.
However, a few years ago, when we were racing the Alfetta GT based race
car, the then-agents took a very dim view of our use of the Alfa name (can
you blieve it?!) so we ended up removing all badges and references to Alfa
Romeo. Instead the car won its championships as the "Algie Alfetta".
