Hi Andrew,
As far as I know there is no plan on replacing the Alfa 146, maybe a Alfa
147 5-door version with the same kind of hatch.
But it seems that an Alfa 136 is coming:
"2001 Alfa Romeo 136... Alfa is reportedly hurriedly working on the
development of a new model: the 136. Basedon the Lancia Y and the Fiat Punto
platform, the 136 is being carefully styled to avoid "cannibalizing" sales
on the Y and Punto (both products of Mama Fiat). Only 2.4m (7.8 ft) long,
the 136 will feel and look like a typical Alfa with design cues from the 156
and 166, and will have an emphasis on sportiness and fun. Powered by either
a 1.2- or a 1.6-liter twins spark 16v, producing 86 and 120 bhp,
respectively, the 136 is expected toreceive the greenlight shortly and could
hit the road as early as 2001." (European Car (world news section)- February
2000).
"A new design from Walter de Silva. The name could be 136. This little car
is 1.5 meter shorter than the 145. Total length will be 2.40 m. It is based
on the Lancia Y, but even 0.5 mtr. shorter. Motors, will be a 1.2 ltr and a
1.6 ltr 16 V Twin Spark......WOW !!!!" (this was from a web site posted last
year from a german alfista).
Cheers,
Stan
