Let's not forget that US and UK/EU etc gallons are different sizes, so the
same car will do about 20% more miles on a UK gallon than a US.

Some conversions follow:

US gallon = 3.785 l
UK gallon = 4.546 l
mile = 1.609 km

FWIW my Dellorto equipped 2000 GT Veloce does about 22-24 UK mpg (18-20 US)
in town, 28-35 (23-29 US) on a trip. On the open road the carbs seem to do a
good metering job, in town the accelerator pumps do some damage! The
Motronic injected 1983 Alfetta GCL I had hardly ever went below 30 mpg (UK)
even in town.
