smell of gas in the interior of a GTV6

Roland Kedikian inquired regarding sources of gas vapors in the GTV6
interior. The most likely culprit is the rubber hose that connects the
gas filler to the tank. It is easily accessed under the trunk liner at
the gas filler location, right where the factory tool set stores.
Usually readjusting and tightening the clamp at that location will solve
the problem.

Another suspect on the list is the little inlet check valve located
under the molded hump that covers the rear seat back top. That valve is
designed to let air flow only inwards so as to make up volume as the gas
tank level decreases, but if it sticks open, fumes can travel outwards
as well. However, the usual failure mode for that valve is to stick
closed and then the symptom is a huge vacuum when you remove the cap.
