Perhaps it wasn't your intent to offend anybody, but you have offended me.
You're providing a clear example of the same blindness you claim Americans
have. "Rich?" You must be kidding. My friend, I'm a highly educated,
highly trained engineer. I've created products and solved problems that
had never been previously solved. Even with those abilities, living in
this "land of opportunity", I am FAR from rich. I'm 36 years old and,
after struggling as professional for 15 years, I have finally bought my
FIRST house. You speak of traveling around the world. How I only wish I
could be a fortunate as you, and have the disposable income required to
travel! No. For my entire adult life, most of my money, most of my
effort, has gone toward putting food in my stomach, and keeping a very
modest roof over my head. If you were to travel to the U.S., and spend any
time away from the big cities, away from the touristy areas, you would see
that I am FAR from alone in my plight. A good portion of this population
struggles to make it every day. If you were to make the effort to drop
your pretenses, and use the resources available to you (like this Digest),
you could find out what it really is like to live in the U.S. You clearly
haven't. I think a little more introspection on your part would go a long
way.
