I replaced the distributer on my 79 Alfetta with a euro Bosch (I carried it
back from England in my carry on baggage) for the better advance curve.  I
then replace the points with a Pertronix unit. I don't remeember the stock
number but it was for a bunch of Bosch distributers including BMW,
Volkswagen, etc...  It did take just a smidge of filing the base plate to
get it to fit just right, but after that it was great.  Took a bit over an
hour due to the hand fitting.  The big improvements were in starting and
idling. It also stays in tune due to no point to erode. I would recommend
the Pertronix unit highly.
