Not only do the motorcycle cable lubricants work better but some come with a 
clamp on device that secures to the end of your cable housing and seals 
around the cable itself.  There is a small opening for the tiny red spray 
tube on the side of the device that directs the full force of the aerosol 
down the cable under pressure and all kinds of dark grey, dirty and gritty 
stuff comes out the opposite end of the cable.  It really does clean out the 
crud instead of adding to the soup inside.
