Power Drain from Seatbelts on '90 Spider???

Someone mentioned to me that the seatbelts in 3 series Spiders are known to
cause a power drain and the result is a dead battery.  Does anyone have any
information on this?  Also, is there a way to get a non-digest format of
this forum so that we receive the email messages as they are sent to the
list?  TIA.
