Re: the 16V TS motor - Timing belts



Hi

In the UK  the timing belt change interval according to the
workshop manuals at 75,000 miles (120,000km). Most
specialists recommend changing the belts more often
then that though. probably at 48,000 miles maximun.

The problem causing the belts to break is apparently one of
the tensioner wheels seizing. Replace these wheels at the
same time as the belt. The new wheels are different to those
fitted to earlier cars, and and also coloured differently for
identification reasons.
