Castrol Synthetic gear oil.

Sasha asked about Castrol synthetic gear oil in transaxle Alfa's. I've got
a 75 which has had Castrol synthetic gear oil (the stuff for bikes) in it
for about 3 years. I noticed a slightly slicker gear change, and a quicker
warm up period during winter, but my 2nd gear syncro is pretty bad
(probably my driving style).

Hi,

Any digest members have good or bad experiences using Castrol Synthetic
(75w/90) Gearbox oil in their transaxled Alfa's? I realise Redline
synthetic is the oil of choice for transaxled cars, but it is not
readily available here in Australia, and is to expensive to have sent
from the US. I have tried Valvoline synthetic in the past and was not
entirely happy with the level of improvement. Any idea's/opinions? The
gearbox in question has been rebuilt around 30,000km's ago, has no
synchro wear (probably due to my driving technique more than anything
else), but I have been running it on normal 80w/90 mineral oil and I
think it is time I upgraded for the sake of gearbox longetivity.

Thanks,
