GTV6 efi troubleshooting

Howdy All,
I have an '84 GTV6 project car that I have slowly been fixing up
over the last several months and it is finally nearing the part where I can
think about licensing it again, but there are still a couple of nagging
problems I am having trouble figuring out.
The first problem is with the fuel injection. When the engine is
cold and I try to start the car it will not idle, it just dies. If I keep
the revs up for a few minutes it will be fine. It also seems to run rich
nearly all the time. I hooked a dvm to the o2 sensor this weekend and got
nice steady readings of ~0.8v, both at idle and at speed with the engine
warmed up. While reving up it would increase to ~0.83 or so and if I let it
drop to idle it would momentarily dip to ~0.3v or so. How can I tell if
the o2 sensor is good or not? It seems accurate to me, but several things I
have read say that the o2 sensor's output should fluctuate more. Also, if
the sensor is correct, what would be making the car run so rich? It sat for
a couple of years before I bought it. I think the auxilary air device is
probably bad (it is never more than 1/3 open) which could explain the
trouble idling when cold. But I can't figure out the mixture. I have tested
a few things: the thermotime switch, afm, throttle switch, checked the
intake hoses for leaks, but everything seems to be ok. One other curious
behavior is that occasionally the car will hunt, both at idle and reved up.
The engine will speed up a couple of hundred rpm by itself, then cut out,
then rev... Turning off the car and disconnecting the o2 sensor seems to
make it go away, but it could be coincidental. Any thoughts?
Another strange problem is with the oil pressure guage. It climbs
to 80 almost immediately and then works its way up to the top of the scale
where it remains pegged even at idle. I have this problem on two of my
alfas, both of which were in storage for more than a couple of years. Is
there any way I can figure out what is most likely at fault without buying
a mechanical oil pressure guage? I'm guessing that it must be either a bad
guage, a bad sender, a short in the wire between the two or a sticking oil
pressure relief valve.

thanks in advance,
- -Obie
