I don't feel the Selespeed 'waits for a while' before downshifting (although it does).  You get used to the reaction time when using it and it certainly does not disturb me,  even with my racing background (RR sidecars with 'true' mechanical sequential gearbox.  My Selespeed is for everyday transportation and not 'competitive driving',  whatever that might be in traffic...

I understand the Selespeed software (controlling the shifting) can be updated,  just as any computer software.  The big goof in the system was making the stick work backwards and making it so it cannot be easily switched:  we tried and lost the reverse!
