Hal,

I know what you mean! I've had italian cars for the most of my driving
life, and this is my first beemer (probably the last one). In my never
ending quest for a "perfect companion" I just had to try at least one.
If you think about it, how many four-seater convertiblles with a DOHC 4,
and a five-speed are out there? The choice is limited. 318 ic is the
best GTC ever built! The engine does remind me of an Alfa four, or a
non-turbo Esprit, free-revving beast, and better built too. But the car
lacks soul, hense the desire to trade for an Alfa. I've been subscribing
to this digest for over a year now, and it seems to be an appropriate
place to try my luck.

Frankly, if I had an '86 Spider and a chance to trade it for a '91 BMW,
I would. Beemer's worth twice as much.
