Re: failed emmision test

when ALFA gives a CO spec. in the manual it is taken before the cat. A
state emmision test is taken at the tail pipe, after the cat. You are
not likely lean so don't mess with the air box. check the exaust valve
clearence! If they are tight they are open too long and allow unburnt
fuel into the exaust, just like a hot cam would. It doesn't fail at 2500
rpm because the intake and exaust work better at that speed to keep the
fuel charge in the combustion chamber(greatly simplyfied for a full
explanation see Phillp Smith's Sientific design and tuning of intake and
exaust systems)

If the valves are tight check the load sensor and hoses to it for leaks.
