GTA "replica" wheels

Simon Favre wrote "I thought I remember John Hertzman launching into somebody
on this one. As I remember from that lesson, the GTA used a 4x98 bolt circle.
Sperry sells a GTA replica (keyword: REPLICA) wheel to fit the 105/115 cars.
It's a 14x6.5" wheel. 14x6, 15x6 and 15x7 are the usual aftermarket fitments
on a GTV. 15" definitely gives you more tires to choose from. Perhaps memory
IS the second thing to go..."

T'wasn't I, I swear- I was very surprised to read Simon's first post,
believed it completely, (who, me doubt Simon?), corroborated it with the IAP
catalog (TecnoMagnesio, 14 x 7, $495, "with the GTA's 4 x 98 mm bolt pattern,
won't fit GTV or Spider") and immediately off-digested Simon for the skinny
on why exactly Alfa would have done such a peculiar thing. Greatly relieved
to find that they hadn't, and wonder why IAP would have GTA wheels with an
Alfetta/Fiat bolt circle.

Someone, forget who, (yes, memory is the third, or perhaps fourth, thing to
go - after hair - - ) sent me photos of backsides of originals and the
TecnoMagnesio "reproductions"; quite different, smooth on GTA, ribbed on the
new ones.

I am also curious whether the Sperry wheels at $275 are from the same source
as the IAP wheels at $495, quite apart from the different width and bolt
circle - and whether inferences should be drawn on marketing strategies.
Curious business - -
