I hit a chunk of retread in the Alfetta about a year ago. The result is the
front plate is bent parallel to the ground. I figure if I ever get pulled
over and the cop tells me I have no front plate I'll say "huh?" then get out
and bend it back into place - hopefully avoiding a ticket or fine.
I've driven the Spider without a front plate for 18 years and got ticketed
twice. Only once was I actually pulled over for that reason. It used to be
just a sign-off years ago but now days there is a fine as well. I'm planning
to design a hinged plate holder for the Spider that could be cable operated
so when I get pulled over I can release it and it will pop down into place.
Later it could be retracted flush with the underside of the bumper again.
That should be fun!
