When I worked for Fel-Pro in the early 80's we never found a glove in an
engine, one of our mechanics did leave a rag in a cylinder bore a _couple_ of
times, totaled two chevy 350s. At that time GM was still struggling with the
Olds 350 diesel head gaskets for which Fel-Pro was OEM. An Admiral in Navy
procurement had gone through two diesel engine in his government supplied
Olds and was quite pissed, so GM sent us his soon to be third engine for test
and break-in. One of our mechanics found that the intake manifold was
completely plugged with casting sand. I now see that GM Q.C. has not improved
in the 15 years since I left Fel-Pro. Couple more things, as last I heard
Fel-Pro was not OEM on most of GM applications, too busy with Ford, and, what
makes you think that a well made glove is cheaper than a head gasket? :-)
